#72037 Pz.Kpfw KV-2 754(r)
This kit represents a captured KV-2 Model 1940 fitted with German
modifications, as used by Panzerkompanie (z.B.V.) 66 in
preparation for Operation Herkules, the planned invasion of
Malta. The kit includes all the parts from kit #72017, plus the turret sprue from kit
#72035/72027 to provide
the German cupola and stowage. New decals are also
provided.
The comments made previously regarding kit #72017 are equally
applicable to this kit. The KV-2 used by Panzerkompanie
(z.B.V.) 66 was an early production example from November/December
1940 with pressed steel two-part resilient road wheels and and early
pattern radiator intake screens so the kit parts should be adapted to
represent these features. The handles should also be removed from
the fender stowage boxes in order to depict the early pattern stowage
boxes evident in photographs of this vehicle.
The kit does not include the external ammunition stowage rack mounted
over the rear hull overhang, which is shown in the few pictures that
exist of the KV-2 used by Panzerkompanie (z.B.V.) 66.
For accuracy, you would need to add this rack and the ammunition
containers from styrene strip and rod.
