Photographs
I tried to photograph all the WWII Soviet subjects, but if I missed your model, I apologize. For the most part, I have no idea who built which model so if you see your own model here, contact me by e-mail and I'll add your name to the caption.
T-44
This is only the second time I've seen a T-44 model - the first was Georg Eyerman's model at the Nationals several years ago, but I know this is a different one.
BT-7
Another 1/35 scale BT-7. Note the water cans being used to fill the fuel tanks - done intentionally by the modeler as the title of this piece was something like 'Another reason illiterate peasants don't make good tankers'.
T-34
In 1/35 scale from a DML kit, rendered in grey presumably to represent one of the unpainted STZ vehicles reportedly used in combat in Stalingrad.
T-34/85
In 1/35 scale from the DML kit, painted to represent a vehicle in Budapest, Hungary, during the uprising in 1956.
T-34
In 1/72 scale, painted to represent one of the vehicles used by the 2nd SS Panzer Division 'Das Reich' at Kursk.
BT-7
In 1/35 scale from the Tamiya kit, this time in Finnish markings and interestingly, depicted in 'wheeled' mode.
T-34
In 1/35 scale by Neil Stokes. The model is based on the DML 'Formochka' kit with wheels and numerous other details from the T-34 'German Army' kit, and with scratch-built fender stowage boxes and track stowage. The model represents a vehicle used by the 2nd SS Panzer Division 'Das Reich' at Kursk. It took a silver medal in Category 1 at the Advanced level.
BT-42
In 1/35 scale from the Tamiya kit. This model represents a vehicle in the factory, having just been completed and prior to painting.
Soviet Anti-Tank Gun in German Service
I'm not entirely sure what gun this model represents so if anyone knows, please contact me and I'll update this posting.
KV-8
In 1/35 scale from the Trumpeter kit, by Neil Stokes. This model took a silver medal in Category 2 at the Advanced Level.
KV-85
In 1/35 scale, from the Eastern Express kit with many modifications, by Mike Petty. This model took a gold medal in Category 2 at the Advanced level.
IS-2m
In 1/35 scale from the Tamiya kit by Mike Mummey, marked to represent a Czech vehicle during the liberation of Prague, April 1945. This model earned a silver medal in Category 2 at the advanced level.
